Nestled along the serene Nan River in Nan, Thailand, Farm Daddeaw is an emerging leader in regenerative farming. Established in 2023, after two years of careful planning and development, this 150-rai farm is redefining the way poultry is raised. With a strong commitment to sustainability, high animal welfare standards, and nutrient-dense food production, Farm Daddeaw exemplifies the future of ethical farming.
Raising Organic Chickens the Natural Way
Farm Daddeaw specializes in raising organic Cornish Cross chickens using entirely organic methods. The birds are fed organic feed sourced from Tankhun, ensuring they receive a high-quality, chemical-free diet. However, the true uniqueness of their farming approach lies in their pasture-raised system.
The first 21 days of a chick’s life are spent in a brooder, where they are kept warm and safe. From day 22 onwards, the chickens live entirely on pasture, housed in specially designed mobile shelters known as “Salatin-Pens.” Inspired by the innovative practices of Joel Salatin from Polyface Farms in Virginia, USA, these pens lack a floor, allowing the birds to sleep directly on pasture. Each pen, measuring 12 square meters (4m x 3m), houses 60-70 chickens and is moved daily—twice a day when close to slaughter—to ensure fresh grass, bugs, and clean bedding at all times.
This rotational grazing method plays a critical role in the farm’s regenerative model. The constant movement of chickens prevents overgrazing, enhances soil health, and naturally fertilizes the land. Unlike conventional factory-farmed chickens, which live in confined spaces with minimal exposure to fresh air and sunlight, Farm Daddeaw’s birds enjoy 420 square meters of pasture over their lifetime. This equates to an average of 6 square meters of fresh, diverse forage per chicken—a stark contrast to industrial poultry farming.
Superior Quality Through Ethical Practices
Farm Daddeaw stands apart from conventional poultry farms in several significant ways:
- No Vaccinations, No Antibiotics, No Hormones : The farm raises chickens without artificial enhancements, ensuring clean and natural meat production.
- On-Site Slaughter and Processing : Unlike most commercial farms, where chickens endure stressful transportation before processing, Farm Daddeaw ensures low-stress handling by processing all birds on-site. This significantly improves meat quality while prioritizing humane practices.
- Immediate Chilling for Freshness : Chickens are placed in a chiller at 0°C within 20 minutes of slaughter, preserving freshness and flavor.
The Founders’ Vision: A Journey to Health and Sustainability
Farm Daddeaw is the brainchild of Tokto and Pimra, whose personal health struggles led them to discover the transformative power of organic food. After experiencing firsthand the profound benefits of a clean diet—fewer illnesses, increased vitality, and overall well-being—they became passionate advocates for sustainable farming. Their journey culminated in the establishment of Farm Daddeaw, driven by a dual mission:
- To produce the healthiest, most nutrient-dense meats
- To enhance environmental health through regenerative practices
By prioritizing soil health, water cycles, and biodiversity, Farm Daddeaw contributes to a thriving ecosystem while producing exceptionally flavorful and nourishing meat. Their commitment to transparency and continuous improvement includes ongoing efforts to obtain organic certification.
A Model for the Future of Farming
Farm Daddeaw is more than just a farm; it is a movement toward ethical and sustainable agriculture. Through regenerative practices, humane animal treatment, and a deep-rooted commitment to quality, this farm is setting a new standard for poultry farming in Thailand and beyond. As they continue to grow and refine their methods, Farm Daddeaw remains a shining example of how farming can nourish both people and the planet.
